Chasing Laughter

Blue eyes that dance with laughter

Always moving… looking… never settling

Captivating this mirth making my perception lighter

The illusion is that this is what we have all been looking for

A smile that is broad and echoes joy

Always showing support and encouragement

Yet your brightness begins to cast me into a void

Pushing myself further into my mind, how can there be grey?

A delusion that is stronger than steel

Refusing to see anything that made you feel pain

In an illusion of perpetual joy, we forgo what is real

Casting each other into a belief that there will never be blackness

Intoxicating moments of absolute bliss

Drag me further from what keeps me grounded

I start to believe that we can always have this

Trying against all reality to see only beauty, never man’s immorality

The yang starts to overpower the yin

Crushing the balance that is essential for life

I become a caged beast where no light can come in

The positive simply cannot exist without the negative

Together we collide with violent force

Determined that the other should would surely waiver

We tore each other apart, and in that moment, no remorse

There can be no reconciliation, only acceptance, and slowly… realization

Where does one go when cast into their own darkness?

It took years to pull myself out of this delusion

And to this very day interaction with you brings a sharpness

I guess I was always better equipped to embrace the yin
