War
There is a war going on in America, a war for survival
The homeless. The desperate. The suicidal.
The unforgiving. The blind. The weak.
On this soil we call our stomping ground, our infantile denial.
Tattered cities. Desolate ground. Rotting waters.
Dying trees. Violated mother of all.
We take all for self gain, what is left behind?
Wasted air. Taken homes.
All in a downward cycle of destruction
Who are we to teach our children, with our selfish point of view?
No safe recess, not even under our nose. No safe strangers
No safety from the unseen boogieman that controls us all.
We ridicule. We hate. We’re secretive.
Always looking to point the blame
This is our country, our home, we make the decisions
Yet people still sleep in the cold filled with fear. Knowing hunger.
Still, we loathe them as lesser
If freedom is here to have, we don’t share it well
Raped children. Slaughtered brothers.
Raped earth. Slaughtered mother.
Are we proud of our America?
Filled with lies and violence
Are we fools without a reason to believe we can get better?
We need to stand as ONE
Refuse this violated humanity
Stand against oppression in our own cities
Communicate our disgust in the path we are walking
Change is in our grasp
Action the only solution
Spread the seed of human caring
Before we ruin our children, humanity, and the mother of us all.
We are the revolution.
